Cub Scout Programme Update October 2011
September 23 – 25 Mike Cannon Challenge.
This went ahead with ten teams making an appearance. Although not up to usual happy standards all the cubs enjoyed themselves. We will be making big changes to this competition for next year. It was also good to see that the local press covered the event. This year’s winners were the 30th Plymouth who will represent us in the County Shield on the 19 November at Exeter Scout HQ. New trophies were presented by Keith Horton and the District presented Keith with a small memento for all his hard work.
October 16 - Incident Hike
This is a Sunday and will be around the River Meavy valley. There will be seven bases. The event will start from the 27th and 33rd camp sites and once you have entered you will be given a start time. Cost to enter £1.00 per cub to include a burger and a drink at the end. Again please let us know ASAP, and at least a week before if you are entering as again numbers could be limited.
Please send your entries to either Julie, Barbara or Darren. As I will not be available for two weeks before the event. Teams have started to enter already. Teams to consist of not more than six cubs plus one leader. Parents or helpers can walk with the cubs but are not part of the team.

As the county are not holding any event to celebrate the 95th anniversary, we will be hosting an Edwardian Fair at Blindman’s Wood in the evening, with sideshows, stalls and food. We will be looking for leader or parent help in the running this event. Also if you have any Gazebos we could use for the night then please let us know. If you want to turn this into a fund raising event then let us know. Numbers by end of October. Outside weather permitting, if not, indoors.
